the hair care edition.

I am going to sound slightly hypocritical when I say that I love my hair and I don't want to ever ruin it because I dye it quite a lot and I use a few products on it. However, I do, I love my hair, yes I am having to adjust to the recent colour change, again, but I am getting used to it no matter how much I wish I was blonde again. I don't use as many products and machines on my hair as I used too, because I realised what it was doing to my hair and I want my hair to grow. No, I am no saint, I use straighteners every day, I hate not blow drying my hair and I do back comb a little bit to get some volume in my roots. HOWEVER I use these products above, and a few others from Avon which I couldn't find, to keep my hair in good condition whilst I do these naughty hair things.

I was not a huge fan of Tresemme until I used their heat protect spray and fell in love. It is honestly a miracle worker. If I could recommend you one hair product that you will use for the rest of your life, it would be this. Just like the colour protect shampoo and conditioner, the heat protect spray leaves your hair shiny and ultra smooth after you have blow dried it or let it dry naturally. It is great with helping untangle hair too, and like the shampoo and conditioner smells great.

I tend not to use dry shampoo, if I can help it, but when I do I use this one by Batiste. It possibly doesn't smell the greatest but it does the best job. This one has a hint of colour in it, and before when I was blonde I was using one with a 'hint of blush' in to lighten my roots slightly, but now I am brunette I have this one and it is great for those days when you wake up late and you can't wash your hair.

I have probably been through every hairspray there is, from the most expensive like Tresemme and Lee Stafford, to the cheapest like Boots own. However, for me, this VO5 one has always stood out, not because of the bright pinkness, but because it actually does what it says on the tin. The Tresemme ones are the most expensive and the most useless, and own brands...well you get what you pay for, but VO5 is in the middle and it is the best that I have found. I will happily be corrected on that fact, but for my hair, which is fine and needs a lot of persuading to have volume, this is the best option for myself.

These bad boys are on my Christmas list because my current Nicky Clarke's are dyed a pinkish tone and are taking too long to heat up, a sign to me which means they are getting on a bit. They have seen many a good and bad hair day and if I get replacements I will miss them. But these are one of the best Nicky Clarkes in my opinion, apart from the new RED ones (which I am dying to try out!)

I don't really have a hair care routine, I tend to wash my hair every other day if I can, shampoo, condition and ocassionally deep condition or use a hair mask, then dependent on whether it is morning or evening I will either spray heat protect on my hair, comb the ends of my hair with a wide toothed comb and blow dry, or brush the whole of my hair with a vent brush, apply volumising mousse and leave to dry other night.

My hair has been around the block a few times, I have had the perm and gone from blonde to brunette and back a few too many times (check out this post for a basic summary of my hair so far, it isn't up to date with my recent hair-raising adventures and it has some old info in it but you can guess the story) I like my hair, it has taken me a long time to grow my hair, and I will never ever ever go short again. Or perm it for that matter!
