LIFESTYLE | my 2016

The New Year is not only a time to look forward to the future, and the prospect of a new year, but also a time of reflection, on the past year and the years before that. Like many, 2016 has been a year of curveballs, and has not been without its downfalls, but it has also had some amazing moments too. As I have always said, my blog is not only for you guys but also for me, so I can look back and think about how my life has changed since I wrote a post. Recently I have been writing more "bloggy" posts and not a lot of "catch ups" as I once did, and this is purely down to the fact I am working so much I really do not do a lot, and any time I do do something I try to make a vlog out of it. So, for the start of the New Year, and to wish 2016 goodbye, I wanted to write about what has happened this year, for me, and how my life has changed in oh so many ways. I wish I could remember everything I have done, and I did write about some of my big achievements earlier on in the year. 2016 for me has had many ups and downs, and I want to end 2017 happier than I am ending this year.

The big things that spring to my mind when I think of 2016 are these -

  • Moved home, and then moved out again to a new and bigger flat in Poundbury
  • Reunited with an old friend who coincidentally lives across the road from me
  • Became part of the single crowd after deciding I wouldn't be any unhappier on my own
  • Went ginger!
  • Tried to dedicate more time to this place
  • Been an assistant manager for over a year
  • (and survived (barely) another christmas)
  • Learnt how to perfect working in heels (well, as good as a 6' woman can)
  • Lost 3 stone and kept it fairly off (christmas aside)
  • Not bitten my nails for over a year
  • Started writing again
  • Saw Black Stone Cherry twice
  • Supported my dad in two triathlons
  • Watched as my mum lost three stone in weight (SO PROUD)
  • Went to Plymouth to my first area meeting
  • Waved my sister off to her Leavers Ball

I hope 2017 brings me what I need to better my life, and if I have to work hard to get there I certainly will, I am no stranger to hard work. The end of the year has been tough, and I am not only physically exhausted but mentally as well. As you all know I suffer with depression and it has recently been hitting me harder than I expected. But I remain optimistic for the new year, for the future, and for what I want to achieve.

I know I can do this, I know the new year will be better, and despite the downs of 2016 the ups have been pretty good. Even the small insignificant moments have helped me through this year, and I will come of the other side.

I want to take this time to thank every single one of you for your constant support and for always being here to read my ramblings. I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year, and that next year for you is everything you want it to be.
