CHRISTMAS | my ultimate christmas movie collection

One of my favourite things about Christmas is being curled up in a duvet with a hot chocolate watching a Christmas film. I have always loved them, growing up we had a box full of DVDs that came down from the loft every Christmas and it gave me such joy to watch them all.

I wanted to share some of my favourites with you!

What is Christmas without Love Actually? Although it is one of those films you can watch all year round, I feel like I'm cheating on Christmas when I do. It is one of those films that is unintentionally Christmassy and is always associated with it. It is a modern day classic - with love, loss and Christmas carols, it is one that will always be a love of mine. With a star studded cast, it cannot be beaten.

Jim Carey cannot be beaten. This is possibly one of my favourite films of his. He embodies the comic and emotional aspect of the Grinch perfectly. I grew up reading Dr Seuss (nothing is wrong with green eggs and ham Sam I Am!!) and so to see such a perfect adaptation of it is wonderful. There is literally nothing negative that can be said about this film! You have to watch it to believe it, and who hasn't seen the meme of the Grinch going "hate, hate, hate, looooooathe" and thought yeah, thats me?!

The same with The Grinch, Will Ferrell was the perfect choice for this character. It is a true Christmas film, and you cannot have Christmas without watching it at least twice a week! I cannot recommend this film enough. And if you don't know this film, have you been living a rock you cotton headed ninny muggings? (little ELF joke there!) It is such a heart warming tale with another star studded cast, and is one of my all time favourites.

The Santa Clause trilogy is possibly one of the most light hearted Christmas selections out there. There is something for all the family in all three of them. They have childish pranks and subtle adult humour, and such a lovable storyline! Tim Allen plays a man who inadvertently becomes Santa Clause and it is his adventures in his new role, and firstly accepting his new fate! Tim Allen is a wonderful choice for this, and all three bring something new to the story. Each is a wonderful stand alone film, but I loved watching one after the other and seeing the full progression of the characters and storyline. If you don't fall in love with this one, then you need a warm hug (again, another film joke!)

The Muppet Christmas Carol

This is my favourite Christmas film. It has sentimental attachments to it, and has for many years. For as long as I can remember every Christmas Eve we have watched this film at home as they sing "for there is only one more sleep till Christmas" and we have carried that tradition on even through Toby's childhood (and I hope I will continue this tradition with my children.) Based on the 1843 novel by Charles Dickens, Michael Caine plays Ebenezer Scrooge (why is it English actors make perfect bad guys?!) and Kermit plays Bob Cratchit, and with even more Muppet characters popping up it adds a slight comic aspect to this harrowing and classic tale.

What are you favourite Christmas films? Do you share some of mine?
